Need: '87 190E 2.3 front and rear shocks

I am "restoring" a high-miler '87 190E 2.3 for my daughter's first driver.

I need to find front and rear shocks.

I thought maybe someone had some they took off while working on a project and would sell at a reasonable price.

Of course, ideally Bilstein HDs.

Thanks

Nope, never hurts. I imagine someone has a set setting on a shelf just begging a home.

I have a set of Bilsteins for a 928 that I'd about give away for the shipping. Wrote them off 15 years ago. Got some old Audi's too (ohh did I say that).

JDUB

I will not go through the KYB shock experience again. Years ago a friend installed them in his old MBZ and they were exceptional. I installed them in a old 240D I used to have and always regretted it. Yes, no more KYBs.

I haven't heard much about Koni shocks recently. They used to be great.

Any body with some good used shocks fer ye old 190E?

I've got to chime in here. I purchased my 300D cheap and one of the first things I did was install brand new Bilstein shocks on it. The costs I had in the car went up about 30% when I puchased/installed those shocks. The original ones had 217k miles on them and I believe they still had some life left in them. I say bite the bullet and just put new ones on it.

engatwork You are probably right. I thought maybe someone had a project car, upgraded to a racing version or something, and had good shocks available.

Have some rears from a '91 removed with about 80k miles. The new shocks felt different, but not radically - they were not the problem.

Saving them for the distant future, but would let them go cheap to get back the shelf space. Dust boots a bit ragged, but I think the shocks are fine. Los Angeles area (San Fernando Valley). Contact me at aq433@lafn.org
