I hope someone can help. My Vacuum system intermintently cuts out. It quits for two days and then mysteriously starts working again. I checked for vacuum pressure directly from the pump and it seemed low. What should the vacuum pressure be coming right out of the pump w/no accesories? Also, if it is the pump (perhaps a valve is sticking intermintently) is the rebuild a usually pretty reliable fix for most pump related problems.

The fitting at the top of the vacuum pump where the brake booster line is connected is actuality the check valve for the pump. The check valve will fall apart, and the pieces can get stuck in other check valves in the front of the pump. The fitting is avail. seperate.

If you take off the fitting and take out the pieces with a magnet it should be fine. Just replace it with a new check valve after that.
