AC smoking?

My wife was driving her 400E when the AC cut off (no blower), and then she saw smoke coming out of the vents. She cut the AC off immediately and let it sit for a while. As she arrived home, she turned it back on, and it worked fine. Still is, three days later.

Is this MB self-repairing? Assuming not, what happened?

probably not smoke but condensate, it happens to all AC's when humidity is at a certain level and when the AC has been running, shut off then turned on again. question is, why did the blower shut off?
