560 SEL - headlights
I have a 1988 560 SEL and the passenger side headlight has a probalem. The bulb sits incorrectly in the headunit throwing very little light onto the road while the driver side headlight is adjusted as far up as it can go, but, the beam falls very short - the high beam is more like where the low beam should be.
Two questions - is there a work around for the passenger side headlight unit - can I buy just the headlight piece instead of the entire unit - I am trying to keep costs low as I am spending a bit on other stuff (mechanical) - also, have others had an issue with a low - low beam and is there a fix for it? Has anyone posted 'how to remove the driver seat on a 88 560 SEL?" I did a search but am not sure if it the same for my car. The cars seemed newer on the posts. A spring on the driver side is broken - I cannot access it to fix it with wire or something ... dunno what, but I don't want to buy a new frame for 250! Please help? |
I think the part that seats in the headlight assembly is called the bulb holder.
I'm not finding it in the Parts Shop catalog on here but it should be a cheap part, under $10 or so. You could call Phil (Parts Shop) for one at 1-888-333-4642 Mon-Fri 8:00a-6:00p ET |
McLaren,
What you're looking for is the headlight lense housing. Cost $80 here in FastLane (under Body Electrical cat.) Edited: before buying a new one...are you sure you seated the bulb right? Anything that's broken? if yes, the lense housing or the fastener? AFAIK, removing the front seats in the 560SEL is not (if any) different from the rest mechanically; maybe a few more plugs to pull... Frank. |
