Trunk Lid Won't Latch
 

When I close the trunk lid on my 1988, 420 SEL, the lid doesn't latch. It appears closed but I can lift the lid easily. I can lock it in the valet position and the lid is locked and cannot be opened but if I lock it in the 12:00 clock position, I can pull up on the lid and it pops open. Something is obiously out of adjustment or the lock mechanism is malfuntioning. What should I look for? Or, I how should I go about diagnoising the problem and solving it?

I fixed the problem by adjusting the lid bracket that slides into the locking mechanism (dah). Can't imagine why I didn't consider that earlier.
