Climate Control

I get either max hot air or max cold air. Cold air if I set the dial to any setting other than max heat and hot air when set to max heat. Can anyone tell me what module is malfunctioning?

Thanks.

Earl :)

Check the pushbutton panel and aspirator motor/interior temp sensor.

I agree with Joe P. You should check to see if the incar temp sensor is drawing air. The sensor itself could also have a coating of dust covering it which seems to make them not perform as they should. Do a search on this topic for more info on testing. There are several good threads on this topic. Good Luck.

Relief is just a hat pin away

Thanks guys... As soon as I read your posts I checked for a clogged hole in the little grill that feeds air to the temperature sensor. Sure enough it was chuck full of caked dust. There was a hat pin laying in the console next to the seat so I used it to pick and scrape the dust from the hole.

The climate control works again! I can now remove the parka from my back seat.

Lesson Learned: Hat pins should be added to the Mercedes tool kit.

Earl, i read with interest the easy fix. Where is the grill you cleaned out?

Very near the front dome lamp. It's rather small. The fan should be strong enough to hold a 1cm square piece of paper.
