I am in the final stages of restoring a 68 250SE, 108.014. I have a wire that I am not sure where it connects. Writing on the label I affixed to the wire has long since faded. The wire is green with a black tracer. One end is terminated to pin 4 on the voltage regulator the other end is terminated with a ring lug. I cannot find any reference to this wire in the Mercedes 108 shop manual either vol 1 for cars up to 67 and vol 2 68 and up. I am thinking it was on the + of the coil. I know there must be some readers with a 250se with a 108 chassis out there that can take a look under the hood. Thanks

Roy,
I have a 2/68 250SE. The voltage regulator on mine has only 3 terminals(D+,DF and D-). Where does your #4 terminal connect on the voltage regulator? Does the wire have current on it? Does it have continuity to ground? Regards, Randy D. ------------------ W.R.Durrance ASE Master Tech Mercedes Tech 19 Years |

Randy,
Thanks for responding to my post. The wire in question is wired into a connector that is plugged into the underside of the voltage regulator. The #4 relates to the pin numbering on the mating connector on the voltage regulator. The regulator end of the wire traces to a 4.7Kohm resistor that is mounted on a small PC board inside the regulator. The other end is terminated in a ring lug. I can not tell you if I have current on the wire. I will be finishing the wiring by the weekend and firing up the car and will check it then. Roy |
