At a recent charity auction I purchased a 76
300D which had been donated. After getting it home(by truck)I can not get it to start. I contacted the previous owner who says the was running but had not been run in about 6 months before the auction.
This car is really clean and I would like to put it back on the road.
I can get it to turn over and it has fuel, however it acts as if it is not firing. Could this be the timing chain(supposedly it was running)?
Apparently it has been sitting for 8_10 months. I live in Fla. and the car came from south Ga.( if this info. might help)
Can you offer any suggestions as to what I might try short of taking it to a shop?
Thanks R Tucker

Maybe the glowplugs. Check the resistance of the glowplugs. How does light react on the dash?

To give the timming chain a quick test, just have someone spin the engine while you peer in through the oil fill hole. The cam should be spinning. Also replace the fuel filters.
