 Brakes 95 S420

I had some vibration when braking at highway speeds, so at 150k I replaced all four brake rotors and padsets with genuine MB parts. I still have the vibration. Upon measuring the out-of-plane of each rotor with a dial-indicator, the front are <.005" and the rear < .003". Are these OOP's within normal tolerance?

I would say that both specs are high and will cause some pulsing. You also should check the rear bushing of the front lower control arm. They are too soft when new and are hydraulic filled. If they are deficient they cause pulsing for many reasons including braking.
If the rotors haven't been overheated or overtorqued I would bemove them and verify that the wheel flange is clean. You also must tighten a few nuts down onto the rotor as the single retaining bolt will pull the disc offset and give improper readings. The disc should be pulled down with all the bolts (original lug bolts can be too long) torqued as installed. |
