new AC compressor sweating
I suspect my "new" (remanned) AC compressor is leaking oil. I had the system converted and a rebuilt compressor put in. I found a little bit of oil (yellow-lime) underneath of the compressor and on the wheel well wall (next to the new receiver-dryer). everything works fine. what gives??

It sounds like they put in UV Dye when they charged the system and it is showing a leak. Get the leak fixed and system recharged as soon as possible.
Good luck, |
It sounds like it is leaking...
just like Larry said. However, I think R134 has a "built-in" dye. Am I wrong?
|
No built in dye. There may be products that do that. The Ester oil that BG produces for retrofits has the dye in it.
The dye is part of the oil so one must be installing oil in order to introduce dye into a system. They used to make small cans that contained oil and refrigerant to install oil. The same could be done with the dye. But cans of R12 or R134a are required to be of a certain purity and that doesn't include dye or oil. |
That is it!
That is what I meant, Steve. ;)
The oil, not the r134. I stand corrected. Thanks! |
