This is starting to scare me:

I had the engine washed to try and locate an oil leak. Right afterwards the charge started staying on while driving but would turn off when RPM got up. It went back to normal after a couple of days. That was 10 days ago...

Today it rained a LOT and the charge and break pad wear indicator lights stayed on all day while driving. I checked the voltage while running and while stopped, only on the battery, and it always read 12.5, dipping about 1 volt when the glow plugs were turned on but never going up, whatever the RPM. The check I did at the cigarette lighter. Don't know if that's indicative but it's all I could do so late.

Any idea?

Nicolas, really anxious to hear from anyone...

Sounds like when the belt is getting wet that it is slipping a little. Try to tighten the belt before spending money on the problem!!

This is getting stranger by the minute... and it seems that the belt explanation is good:

Every time it rains, the lights come on. Today, after a big rain it took 4 hours for the lights to start dimming, and then they would dim according to engine RPM. Then, all was OK!

I'll check the tension on the belt tomorrow.

Thanks a LOT.

Quick update: checked the tension, seemed a little low, increased it a bit, time will tell...

Thanks all again.
