upgrading 190E grill assembly-help!
I just got into a slight accident and now am presented with an opportunity to upgrade a few things....ie the grill.
Not quite sure what is out there and what would work for my 1993 190E 2.6. Would like some advice. I know Bekkers has that avantgarde grill but is that my only option? Any other suggestions? Thanks! Last edited by wotan; 09-13-2002 at 11:16 AM. |

Check out this website. They have 3 different grills for a W201.
http://www.eris-car.com/ From the home page: Click on Mercedes, Click on W201, click on chrome parts. The company is in Germany, but I know of at least two members on this site that have happily ordered from them.

Not that I'm aware of, but I've noticed on like items, this company is 25%-50% cheaper than what U.S. companied are selling them for.
The wood / leather steering wheels are a nice upgrade, and this company sells that for half of what other companies sell then for, like ************************

Anyone actually refit this? I heard there is some dremelling involved and the clips has to be modified...so I guess it's NOT a strait fit-in.
![]() Can anyone back up my theory?

I read...
I read on 2phast.com's site that he had to cut something out for this type of grill.
Hey but it looks good. Any other thoughts and suggestions? |

Yep, even the ones available at the dealer need to be retrofitted.
You need a dremmel motor, apparently, but I gather it's not too difficult to do. In fact, Hi-Power, Placo1, and myself are going to purchase and install this Avantgarde (S600) grill on our W124's together. When we do, we'll post the installation process for the benefit of everyone. Also, I'm going to order the Zebrano Wood / Black Leather steering wheel for my W124 at the same time. It's about $400 for the steering wheel, but it'll be worth it. Those wood / leather steering wheels are pieces of art, and my black leather steering wheel is shot.

Don't buy Grill from Eris
I bought the grill from Eris, what they don't tell you is the grill is made of plastic and the chrome is painted on (and not very well). Next, 2phast said that his grill is breaking in several places since the part they cut down adds a lot of strength. On another note, I know many others who have had the same grill for a while with no signs of breaking. Here is a link for a group buy on a c-class grill conversion which is the dopest looking, and I doubt you'll ever find it cheaper. You can always paint grill color matched to your body color for 12.95 in an aerosol can from a company 2phast mentions on his site.
