Does your 92 400E have a Check Engine Light??

Just curious.
My 92 400E does NOT have a check engine light or the handy dandy LED code decipher'er. Does yours??

Mine has neither. They made 2 versions: the California models, which did have "check engine" lights, and the "49 states" version for everywhere else. I don't think any 400E came with a built-in LED (though you can make your own LED tester for under $10).

Check our JimF's web site for a schematic:

He has a real wealth of info there and has clearly put a lot of time and effort into this!

No MIL lamp on my '93 300E either (49 state version). I kinda like it - my wife never comes home and tells me the check engine light is on. How great is that?

Never gone looking to see if it has an LED flashy thingy.

Al, it appears that the 92 year models came in two flavors - California and 49 State. My 92 500E does not have the CE light. It is a North America car, but does not have the CE light. This appears true for the 400Es, that is, the 92 model year cars.

Hm. My 1992 500E (a Washington state car as far as I know) has one. In fact the CEL light is on and I can't make it go away! :p I also have the 8-pin connector with LED strapped to the front of the (what I'm assuming is) the ASR or launch control.. whatever you want to call it.

Interesting.. I wonder if mine was a CA car originally.... *ponder*.
