This is the weirdest thing... whenever I cross the border from US to Mex or Mex to US... while waiting in line close to the actual crossing, my speedometer goes haywire!! It flips up to 140 mph, and back down, and back up, and back down... it's crazy... Why is this happening!? Some sort of interference or what!?
THanks for any information!

Probably a radiated imunity problem. Emissions in the spectrum somewhere is causing common mode voltages to occur that causes the instrument cluster to do wierd things. Maybe from a radar of some sort.
I heard of a case the other day where Ford had to buy back a customer vehicle (Navigator) this month because the cluster would totally reset on her way to work. Only on a certain side street and only when going a particular direction. I think this was in Texas somewhere.

I doubt it's radiation detection devices... they're passive and don't emit anything.
Radar was my first thought, also. Next time you're there, the way to check for radar is to turn on your radio and listen for a short, harsh buzz that repeats itself every 10 secs or so. I used to hear it when I worked at Alameda NAS. Never been to S. California. Is there a base nearby at the border?

Camp Pendelon is near there, and San Diago has a Navy base. Maybe they're using a truck sized MRI. Or maybe its the Mexicans doing electronic evesdropping.

I doesn't have to be speed radar. The case in Texas was a doppler weather radar.
