190E 16V Speedo Cable
 

I need to get behind my intrument cluster and the Speedo cable seems to be holding in ( I can see the cable move at the fire wall when I pull the instrument cluster). I found the attachment point on the transmission. It looks like it just slides in and is held in place by a 10mm bolt on a "C" clamp looking thing.

Has anyone removed the cable from the transmission? Do I ony have to remove the bolt and it coes out?

I was helping a friend with his 190D, 1984 auto-tranny car and he did remove the cluster from it. He was adding a revgauge to it.

Anyway, he didn't remove cable from transmisson but he did take out this black vent hose in the dash before he pushed the cluster out. I think he took off the cable from the cluster itself before he did push it out.

I am not sure about this but maybe it'll help you...

Dee is correct. You need to remove a heater/ac duct and reach up behind the cluster to unscrew the speedo cable. The first time is a bit of a challange, but the next 10 times are a relative breeze.
