Question Interesting C36 wheel noise

All,

On the way home from San Diego last night, I had a strange noise start in the front right wheel. The noise is rythmic and varies with the speed of the car, not the rpm of the engine. It sounds like something is hitting on each revolution of the wheel. I pulled over and checked for something wrapped around the wheel, but nothing was there. The noise comes and goes, it is worse at low speed than high speed and disappears when braking. My ideas are:

1) The pads on the car are in need of replacement, perhaps a pad is loss and hitting a high spot on the rotor?

2) The front wheel bearing is shot.

Thanks for the help!

~dnm
