Boston area body shop(s)

Greetings forum members,

I own a 1972 350sl that needs rocker panel and floor repair.
Does anyone know of a quality body shop in the Boston, MA area that they could recommend. One on my list is Hatch and Sons. I would like to have several estimates/options.

Thanks,

Knarf

Hi!

I took my car to Glenville Auto Terrace ( it's in Allston, MA just around Harvard St. ). It's on Glenville Terrace or something.
They did a good job at a good price I think...

however, my service advisor from the local MB dealer recommends this guy..

Auto Engineering Body Works Inc.
774R Pleasant St. Belmont, MA
617-484-9325

Peter - 617-484-9536 Just tell him that you got his number from Nathan of Herb Chambers..that's the service advisor's name.. a great guy BTW.

Good luck and what do you think of a small Boston/ New England Mercedes gathering? It'd be cool to talk to a group of enthusiasts. Because when I talk about these diesels to my friends they all think I'm nuts... hehehe... unless I talk about... 20" wheels, turbos, intakes, injectors, sound systems, neon lights, etc. :p

Boston area auto body shops

Holson,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll check out your referals within the next week or so. I would really like to have the car repaired this fall and then garage it for the winter months.
My concern is that the shop I use if familular with MB's and will replace all the rusted and rotted metal with MB parts.
Yes, I would like to see a Boston/New England Mercedeshop forum meet or get together. I, much like yourself, love talking about the marque.

I purchased my car from Hatch and Sons, they have been very nice to us since then. I do all the mechanical work on the car my-self, but I have called them on occasion for technical advice, and they have always been very helpfull (even when they don't stand to make any money). I have not had any body work done there, but I have spent a few days walking around thier shop...The examples I have seen there are always top notch. Some of the cars they do body work / restorations on are not to be believed :^). I don't know the cost, but a nice shop no doubt.

Try:
Green Street Motors

100 Green St

Foxboro, MA 02035-2862
Phone (508)543-3888

This is the only body shop (I have been exposed to a dozen others) that I can endorse with no reservations.
They do good work that lasts with attention to detail.
They even worked with me to save some money by tracking down used parts. They are not MB specialists, but rust is not exactly a technical problem.
