Q's on 300e O2 sensor

Saw many tips/discussions on O2 sensor replacement. I have a 1986 300e and want to install the Ford Mustang 302 O2 sensor. I have read people having good luck with this as it is more or less a "universal" part. (although it does go against the grain of using OEM) My Q: Does anyone know the exact part number for the Ford O2 sensor that will fit the 300e? Is splicing the wires and bounding with electrical tape enough? thanks.

oxygen sensors place

you could save a few bucks even if you got the O.E.M. Bosch version. they have generic ones with splicing instructions for the original connectors. haven't tried them but someone posted about the shop and i kept the bookmark...

It does work. I just did my wife's 190E-2.6 tearlier this week. Bought the O2 sensor at AutoZone for a '90 Mustang 5.0.. I bought the sensor with the 16 1/2" harness cable. They didn't have the 8" one. Cost me $40. I used electrical connectors and crimped the cables together. Wasn't a big deal to do..except getting the DAMN original O2 sensor off. The car takes off a lot better. More responsive and better gas mileage..
