What car is better 95 C280 or 95 E320?
Please tell me what car is better for you.
Thank you in advance |
How long is a piece of string? This question is a matter of personal preference.
Both use the M104 engine, and both have some head gasket and wiring harness issues. The C280 is smaller, and handles differently. The E320 is larger inside, and is not as nimble. Drive both, pick the one that best suits you. Most important is to find the best example of the one you like... |
Yes, it is personal preference. In general, the E320 would probably be a better family car, but I think the C280 is more fun to drive. Try them out.

I agree that it's a matter of personal preference.
I see the C280 as a 7/8 version of the E320. Their performance is probably very similar, and I wouldn't expect really any noticeable difference in handling. The E320 is a little wider so you'll have more elbow room, and about an inch more legroom upfront, but the biggest difference will be in the rear legroom. Most people rarely, if ever, have people in the back seat, so this might not be important to you. Both cars unfortunately will probably need to have the head gasket and wiring harnesses replaced as the early designs were bad, but other that these two things, the cars will probably last longer than you'd be willing to keep them. |
Thank for your advice , I already have a E320 and was looking for a C280.

I love the 94/95 E-class exterior styling. Probably, from an unbiased and objective point of view, more so than a 95 C-class. But it's hard to definitly say that I like one more than the other.
The C-class definitly feels lighter on it's feet, and has slightly quicker acceleration, but not by much. The 95 E320 was the very end of a body style, where as the C280 had just begun.... meaning the C280 will tend to look like a newer model for a longer time. However, the body styles of both definitelyare products of a MERCEDES-BENZ of the 90s. The C-class just seems so much more 'up to date,' in many respects, than the E-class. For example, the mechanical odometer on the E, the CC PBU. The C-class has all digital and a 'digital' PBU; OTOH, who really cares. I chose the C280... because it suited me better.... I'm 20. ;) |
Before we bought the '99 E300 TD, we (my wife and I) test drove a '98 C280 sport. After having the '94 E320 wagon for 4 years I found the C280 a little 'gutless' past 60 mph. The wagon just starts stretching out at those conditions. I think the 94'-95' W124's look better dressed up too.
