I have two separate problems with my 1976 450 SLC. 1. The passenger side door on my 1976 450 SLC gets very hot to the touch, especially in two spots; near the door handle and near the arm rest in the middle of the door. Is this a symptom of an electrical problem? All electric devices (windows, etc.) work fine. Should I keep a fire extiguisher handy?
2. Whenever it rains heavily, water streams/drips from the firewall/dash to my right foot, near the accelerator. Please don't tell me to divert the water to the passenger door and then I'll solve both problems. My wife already suggested this. T hanks! |

As far as the hot door, are you sure your heater isn't stuck in the on position. The micro-switches and/or heater valve sometimes fail leaving the heat on. There is a vent into the doors. Check to see if the heat travels along the vent.
The water sounds like it's coming from the fresh-air vent. Big pain to fix. Maybe also sneaking through the a/c return line. |

Water leak? Don't overlook a leaking windshield....

Don't forget the little rubber piece that goes around the wiring harness where it goes through the fire wall. Just use a hose on it, if it leaks silicone or a new one will do.
