Hello all

The shutoff actuator on my 1982 300D Turbo is gone, taking a long time to shut the engine and leaking oil into the vacuum lines.

I bought the part and tried to replace the defective one yesterday but the oil filter housing seems to be in the way. As a small metal tab needs to be inserted in a slot inside the injector pump body, I am unsure if this can be done without removing the oil filter housing.

Has anyone done this replacement on this type of car? Is it possible without removing the filter housing?

Any info appreciated

Nicolas

Have this done by a tech!!! Improper installation can result in engine damage!! I have seen this done wrong before and the engine ran to the rev limiter and it took minutes to get it turned off!!

Just a quick note: thank you guys. This site is great. I took care of the shutoff valve this weekend. Didn't have to remove the oil filter housing, but removcing the "throttle" and all the vacuum lines helped a lot to get to the part.

BenzMac: Getting the rod to engage the shutoff lever was easyish, considering I'd been well warned in advance, so thanks for that. I did test it with a block of wood in hand in case I needed to block the air intake... :^)

Again, thanks a lot, great work, great site.
