560 Sl Eating Front Calipers!

Hello to all!

I am trying to understand Why my SL is eating Calipers.

I replaced them at 86000 miles and now have 106,000 and I am replacing them once again. Last time rebuilt, this time rebuilt!

I am not sure if this is normal but it seems to me that something is not right if I am going thru them that quickly.

What is happening is that the Front Calipers are locking up and this was the same problem I had at 86K.

Now, it is possible that this is standard procedure for the car? I would appreciate comment!

If this is not normal then what should I look for that might be causing this other than the nut behind the wheel?

All comments graciously accepted and Thanks in Advance!

This is a shot in the dark but a suggestion none the less. How about the brake booster? Hope you find the gremlin soon !

Tom,

What do you mean by "eating Calipers" ....? I have certainly heard of cars "eating" rotors .... What are some of the other symptoms?

Locking up brakes on your car could mean something other than calipers. ABS system, have your checked it out? It makes me thing that possibly the ABS sensors are the problem ....

Have your replaced your flexible brake lines?

How are they being rebuilt? Are the bores being sleeved? If so, is the rebuilder using stainless steel sleeves?

I wonder if the bores have a rough texture from either bad rebuilding or (water in the brake fluid induced) corrosion, causing the calipers (pistons) to stick. Any brake fluid leakage from the calipers?
