'91 300E Speedo Needle Bounce
 

My speedometer needle on my '91 300E is starting to bounce. But only sporadically and typically at higher speeds. Is this a sign that this thing is getting ready to bite the dust, or will it continue to work for some time to come? It is not all that bothersome...yet!

Actually this is a common problem with 124's I think. It just means that the speedometer cable is not spinning well - either it's getting caught by dirt in the cable or it just needs to be oiled. My car did this too and I just sprayed some lithium grease down the cable and it fixed it. I suggest you do a search because there is a lot more information that I don't which could be very helpful.
