Last week the 260E refused to start properly.
The engine started - ran for a few seconds -
then cut out completely. This hapened repeatedly (more than a dozen times). I had it towed home, and the same thing happened again the next day, so I had it delivered by tilt-tray truck to the local Merc service centre. Without even looking at the motor, the mechanic turned the starter key and the engine started and ran first try. The car now starts and runs without any problems at all - which leaves doubt in the mind as to a repeat performance.

I would be gratefull for any clue whatsoever. Regards - Andrew.

The fuel pump relay is usually the problem. But I have seen the crank sensor do the same thing. Was the engine hot or cold?? If cold the relay ' if hot the sensor!
