1962 190sl roadster

i have installed a rebuilt long block from atk engines, at this time #1 cylinder is at tdc on the compression stroke butt the button is not pointing directly at the mark on the distributor. also i have gas in the solex carbs butt do not have sucktion to pull gas to the cylinders? i had to use the 190 distributor not the 190sl is this part of my problem? any help would be great.
i do not work on imports that often.
