After having the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel pump relay replaced, my 87 260E is still stalling after running for a few minutes. When cold, it will start fine. If I drive a few blocks, it will begin missing and stalls. Sometimes it will restart, but it usually just cranks without any ignition sound, and I have to wait an hour before it will start again. If I start it and idle it for 15 minutes or so, it does not happen. Someone suggested the ignition coil might be bad. Appreciate any suggestions.

Check your ignition coil,cap,rotor.
and also check your air flow sensor.
good luck.

Quick question... is the air flow sensor the small sensor attached to the side of the air intake housing?

I had the same problem. I replaced the fuel pump, the fp relay, and the temp sensor. It ended up being the EZL. They're expensive new- $1000 or so; but I bought mine from Atlanta-Stuutgart and paid $275.00 for it. My car runs fine now.

Good Luck,

Joe

If the coil is the fault, it will give one unmistakeable sign. The car will idle ok, but will not accelerate. If you touch the accel pedal, the engine will die. If these are your symptoms, the coil should help you. One thing I have seen alot of lately is the crank sensor. Usually they will just die with no warning and wait 5 min and restart.

Be sure you have an updated overvoltage relay.!.
