I have a 99 E430 Sport. The steering wheel has a squeaky noise as I turn left or right. The noise is coming from the inside of the steering wheel. It sounds like a unlubricated door hinges. The noise is not loud, but I can hear and feel it through the steering wheel. Is there anyone have the same problem.

The steering ring has to be greased. I had the same problem with my then new 190E. Take it back to the dealer, they will grease it under warrenty.

The 210's are also having problems with the front suspension squeaking.

The rubber boot where the steering shaft goes thru the firewall has been a common source of sqeaking. A small amount of lubricante seems to do the trick.

If none of the above helps, my car had squeaky stering wheel problems for months. After trying several other things the shop reported that they moved a bushing that appeared to be contacting the inside of the CC switch. The problem hasn't recurred.

I had the same problem on a 99 E320. They applied some silicon lube and it's gone.

My 89 300E has the same problem. How do I remove the steering wheel to apply some lubricant? And afterwards, is it easy to put it back on without messing up the alignment of the steering wheel?

99 E-Class=210 Chassis
89 E-Class=124 Chassis
These are two differnt cars entirely. Kind of like apples and oranges. The 210 has clock spring that makes the conctacts to the steering wheel. The 124 has carbon brushes that ride on a slip ring to make the contact. In the case of the 124 most likely you have a large amount of carbon dust built up in this area causing the noise. To repair remove the steering wheel and clean the dust out. It would also be a good time to replace the brushes. Be careful about using lubricant on electrical contacts.
