How many wires are there on the o2 sensor in my 89 420 sel and can i replace it with a 1990 ford mustang 302 sensor?
|
It's very possible that you can use an alternate sensor. Everyone I've seen has the same voltage curve. All the MB sensors I've seen have three wires and two connectors. The connector with one wire is the O2 signal wire. The connector with two wires is the heater on the sensor.
I think if the sensor will screw in place and you get the wires right it will probably work. That said, I'm not sure I would do it, but in this day and time, I certainly understand steps to economize. Best of luck with it and let us know the result. Have a great day, |
If you use the search facility, this has been covered several times. Yes, you can use the Ford Mustang sensor. Someone posted how to build a wire adapter to convert between the sensor and the Mercedes connector so that the next time you do it, it's just plug and play, regardless of whether you go back to the Mercedes sensor or continue with another Ford sensor.
