Timing 2.5Turbo [Best way ??]

Couldn't find a comparaison on timing methods !! on the forum.

I am planning to put a new chain.

Having the IP locking tool.
Which is the best way to make timing ?
1)
* Putting the cranck at #1 TDC
* Putting the head + Align the camshaft
* Putting the chain tensioner
* Turning the cranck to TDC+15"
* Align the IP until the locking tool will engage.

OR

2) (whith the camshaft Off)
* Locking the IP.
* turning the cranck to #TDC + 15"
* Engage the chain
* Putting on the camshaft whithout lifters
* putting the chain and tensionner.
* Turning the cranck to #1 TDC
* Then place the lifters and the camshaft.

The only one operation that disturb me, is to put the front panel and the harmonic balancer, to read the cranck position and remove it mount the chain....

The best way to install the chain, is the MB way of rolling the chain in connected to the old chain.
By doing it that way you won't need to worry about the pump timing as it won't change.
MB offers a tool for about $25-30 that holds everything in place while rolling in the new chain. MB part # 602-589-01-40-00.

The best way to time the pump is with an "A-B" light, by locking the pump with the tool you will get the timing with-in 3-4 deg. & that isn't close enough in MOST cases!

Thanks,

but the old chain is out of the engine, it caused the engine breakage.

The IP is also out :(
