Is it possible to replace the light bulbs in my 190 ,1990 ,head lights with stronger bulbs? Thank you for your help.
Yes, however there is the possibility of the plug in connectors melting.
Phillips makes a replacement bulb that produces a whitish blue light that is more intense than the normal halogen bulb but is the same wattage rating to reduce the chance of damaging connectors or wiring.

what would happen if you put the real xenon replacement bulbs in a normal lighting system?
Rocky,
Nothing....the OEM system will not light the Xenon's. The conversion kit can be done for approx $1000. A good option that might not be quite so expensive is a swap to the Euro headlights. They should increase the effective lighting and improve cosmetics a bit. PartsShop may even be able to get them for you... Hope this helps...Lee |
is it the whole headlight assembly that needs to be swapped or can you just swap the lenses?
It's more than just the headlight assembly. You also have to install the high voltage power supply. Xenon's work by creating a high voltage arc (10k to 30k volts) within a container of xenon gas. Once the arc is initiated it takes very little power to maintain it.
