Exhaust Question 1992 190e 2.6
Ok... I have a question.
I have a 92 190e 2.6 I dont want to get a "genneric" rear muffler for it, I found an ansa cat back exhaust that is supposedly designed to fit the 190e 2.3 from 84-88 on e-bay. I e-mailed the seller, and he said it wont be bolt on on my car. He didnt seem too knowledgeable beyond what his application guide told him. My question is - How much different is the 2.3's exhaust from the 2.6's specifically the muffler. Will the muffler have the same hanger locations etc.... I really dont mind having the pipe to connect to my exhaust fabricated, but I want the hangers to be in the proper locations.... Anyone have any idea? I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the situation. Thanks in advance for the help - George - e-mail = george@parts4sale.com |
The 2.6 exhaust system is totally different. I suggest you buy one made for the 2.6 engine. The 2.6 uses a dual system that merges to a single. The 2.3 is single all the way.

Will the muffler be the same?
I'm assuming once we get down to the muffler, the merge you describe is pretty much complete, and there is one pipe heading to the muffler.....
I just want to replace the muffler section, with something that has some more attractive tips, and looks and sounds a bit sportier. If the 2.6 and 2.3 use similar muffler designs, and same hanger locations, I think this will suit my purposes, as its priced only slightly higher than a universal "rice rocket" muffler would cost. Thanks again for the help, George |
