W210 Wagon - How to remove rear hatch interior panel?

Any one have advice for removing the rear hatch interior panel on a W210 wagon? I'm trying to access the 3rd light bulb and am perplexed by the lack of screws holding the hatch on.

MB has used two types of plastic pins to hold the panel on. I can't figure out how best to remove the pins without mangling them. Do you need a special tool?

Once the pins are out, does the panel just lift off?
