Oil leak 95 e320coupe

keep finding oil on floor under engine (front). Have been told that it is common for this engine to leak from a seal behind the a certain cover...? but when is it time to do something about it.

I would say that it is leaking a table spoon each night. Is there a quick fix? Is this generally an expensive scenerio to do it right? Is this part of the head gasket or oil pan gasket? Is it possible for a shade tree mechanic to accomplish?
