Working on a 73 450 SE (w116.032, m117.983).
Is the cylinder arraingement 1-4 on the right head and 5-8 on left head? If so, I have some questions:
Engine runs way too rich; all plugs are black; all plugs are gas fouled except cyls. # 2 and # 6. Is there a fuel enrichment set-up on this model? How about a coolant temp. sensor for the injectors? Anyone care to give a detailed procedure to this ASE Master Tech. Unfortunately I do not specialize in german engine repair; my specialty is japanese makes. All help is greatly appreciated.

These are tricky. You have two sets of points in the lower part of the distributor that trigger the system. The rich/lean mixture is controlled by an intake air temp sensor, a crude map sensor and coolant temp. Make sure that all are working. My bet is that the points are wet or the map is bad. You can adjust there at the back of the map. It looks like a big can.
