1984 280SEL water pump

Is it necessary to remove the vibration damper in order to replace the water pump on double overhead cam 6 cyl? It looks like the bottom bolt can't be reached.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the M110 but most MB engines have a notch somewhere along the circumference of the damper so you can get to bolts behind it.
