Hi, I have an 86 300E, the A/C compressor is not turning on normal or multi cooling setting. All other functions work (fan, heater) but the compressor doesn't turn on. I've checked the compressor wheel and it's spins freely.
Any suggestion will be helpful thanks |
You are probably low on refrigerant. To check you will need to bridge the low pressure switch on the drier. It is the black switch with two spades on top. Just bridge the two wires on top and see if the compressor comes on when it is supposed to. If so, you are low on refrig.

I had an '86 300E so I'm familiar with the a/c woes you are encountering! If you are low on refrigerent, you may have a leak in the a/c manifold pipe. I had mine rebuilt which was a lot cheaper than buying new.
good luck and I hope you don't live in Houston in the summer time! |
thanks for all the info, I bridged the unit and the compressor worked...
Thanks |
