Rear brakes on 1991 500SL, D.I.Y. ?
Replacing the rear brake discs and rotors on a 1991 500SL. Is this a possible DIY job? Any special reason why a dealer would have to do this? My dealer wants $450 to do this job, but pricing out the parts is ridiculously less than this.

I had great success DIYing the brakes on my 95 S320. The two best resources I found for hints etc are the DIY section on this board (E Class brake Pad replacement - even though mine isn't an E class either), and www.alldatadiy.com
Between the two, I got enough information for me to be comfortable and successful doing my own brakes - never having done brakes on any vehicle before. Good luck - and have fun!
