I just purchased a 1988/ 300E with 134000km
(78000miles) and notice the check engine light comes on intermittently when idling and goes off one the car runs for a couple of minutes.Any suggestions? I am told it could be O2sensor??? Are there generic O2sensors that can be used? Also need a cd rom version of repair manual?? Thankyou for the input. |
Hi,
It sounds like an O2 sensor to me, also. That was the only input that would turn the check engine light on and off at times other than a possibly faulty CIS-E (fuel computer) control unit, but that is very rare. I would suggest using a factory Mercedes-Benz O2 sensor for best results. Good Luck! Jim LaPlant Factory Trained Mercedes-Benz Technician |
There are many grades of O2 sensors, stay w/BOSCH. This car uses a 3-wire sensor & the wires can be spliced w/care. If your car is a California version then there are other possibilities.
