300E started meking 'gliid" noise when turning at the steering wheel in winter.Changed steering fluid few times with Dexron III and then lately with MB steering fluid (blue bottle).No help.
Is this coming from the steering wheel itself.How do you lubricate it?
Thanks++++

Usually it is the contact brush set that is making the noise. It can only be replaced. I have seen the small rubber grommets that go around the cruise stalk also squeak. Just use some silicone on this.

Many thanks.Will try and spray some wd40 there.However,seeing another 300Te 's steering problem cant be fixed under warranty on several attempts,I am forewarned to maybe live with it.

Search the topic "squeaky steering wheel"

I had my car fixed under the warranty.

Tom,

My 300 TE was probably the one you saw referenced. The solution (after too many tries) was to relocate the bushing by the CC switch. Now it makes a plastic on plastic noise until it warms up (about 5 minutes) No resumption of the previous squeak for about 5K miles.
