mobil 1 syn change interval

I recently purchased my 97 e420 and will continue using Mobil 1 synthetic oil. How often must I change the synthetic oil?
Thanks!
rob

Just a note here: I know a gentleman, now retired, who was a professional lubrication engineer and who consulted on the additive package for the first generation of synthetic oils.

He runs 25,000 mile oil changes when using a quality synth. Yes, the comma is in the correct location. Twenty-five thousand miles.

What he does change, every 4000 miles, is the *filter*. Filter media gets soggy and saturated, he says, mostly with carbon crud from ring blowby and the cylinder walls, and the filter isn't good for much more than that.

I think he's nuts. I change synth and filter both at 6K. All of our engines are quite clean, and oil analysis shows no issues.

what does 6K mean ? 6000 kilometers ?

Kilometers

or miles. ? roman numerals ?

this is an internation forum.

I plan on 7,500 mi oil change intervals.

sdanville, the "k" in seacoast's "6k" is short for kilo, which I believe is a latin prefix for 1000, so he means 6000 miles .

kilo means what ?

kilo means 1,000... ?

Not in my drug world.

it's 2.2 Pounds.

My heads spinning on this stuff. Yesterday I read in these pages only certain weights of Mobil One is really synthetic.

Geez Louise.
