dash bord gauges are hesistant to respond

I have a C 280 1995 6 cyl mercedes,when i start my car the gauges dont 't respond. After going down the road about 20 miles they begin to become active one by one.
What can cause this. Any ones prompt response it greatly appreciated.

Very common on the W202 chassis, the needles will "stick" to the rest pin. The cluster needs to be removed & the needles & rest pin need cleaned with a Q-tip & alcohol.
