Lately I have been hearing a squealing sound when I turn the steering wheel in my car. It kind of sounds like sqealing from a tire when turning the steering wheel, but louder. I does not sound like when the power steering fluid is low in the pump. Im looking for suggestions to what to look for. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank in advance, Mauro 87 190e 2.3 16 |
You could have a joint locking up. I have seen tie rods and ball joints cause this noise.

Could lubricating this area stop the noise, or shoud I consider replaceing/servicing them.

Check you power steering pump belt. If it is slipping, it will make a noise like squeeling tires when you turn the wheel, especially when you turn the wheel to the limit of its travel one way or the other.
