I recently ran my 85 TD wagon which I recently purchsed down to one eighth tank. The engine shook and sputtered and lost power. I struggled to a gas station and filled up. It only took about 17 gallons so it wasn't empty. I wonder was it trash, water or growth in fuel. No problems recently but I am keeping it full .What was it and what do I do ?

Replace both of the fuel filters at once and install biobore in the fuel tank. Have some one blow out the strainer too.
