Raw Gas Smell
('92 190E/2.3) When I'm driving, then come to a stop (at a light, or into my driveway) I can smell raw gas. It's not overpowering -- but it's quite noticable. I've inspected under the hood (the intake, fuel lines) and the fuel lines under the car, but I can't find any leaks, and nothing jumped out at me.
Is there a something I should be looking harder at? Thanks in advance for any input. Jeff Pierce |

Hi Jeff,
while I am not familiar with your car, do a search on EHA valve, they can leak and are on the side of the fuel injection body (black box in the picture on my '87 420 SEL). Could also be the fuel pump. Mine leaked enough to leave a puddle under the car. Reinhard Kreutzer |
At one end of the fuel pressure regulator is what appears to be a vacuum connection. Pull out the tube and see what appears. If gasoline, the diaphram has ruptured, and the regulator must be replaced. Change the oil right away, too, as this is where the gas will go.
