Valve cover gasket replacement on a 2.6L

My valve cover gasket is leaking oil. It runs to the exhaust header and emits that well known foul odor.

Also, there appears to be oil seeping at the head gasket, below the exhaust.

The car is a 1987 260E with the 2.6L engine.

I'd appreciate knowing if the replacement of either of these is a colossal undertaking for an experienced "shadetree" mechanic. Are there any other parts or procedures which should be replaced/done during this procedure?
