Transmission Problem..?

I have a 91 300SL with about 110,000 miles automatic trans...my wife was pulling into a parking space and when she backed up to straighten our the car a little...the car would not shift into gear..it's been driving fine up till then...no laboring in gears, no leaks or noise, didn't hear any clunks...the car will hold in park but does not shift into any gears..? Any ideas would as always be appreciated.

Thank you

Thanks for the quick reply...broken band sounds serious...just wondering what you mean by valve body?

Hello again...well, valve body has been clean...and the trans still does not engage...shifter shifts through the positions...but still no results...? For personal knowledge...any ideas what are other typical tests to preform..?

Thank you

Tranmission problem solved

Thanks again for the response....just now getting a chance to get back to the board and respond....Long story short on my problem...the valve body needed to be rebuilt. Took it out and sent it off to have that done...turn around time was quick...transmission works fine for now....evidently, had a stuck valve....!

Thank again for the response...just wanted to pass this info on for the next guy..this is a great board...

Aloha
