What is the corelation between the injection pump timing and the shifting of the transmission? Also, every time that I adjust my valves....it seems to change the shifting patterns.

The correlation is the power output of the engine directly affects the shift of the transmission. IE, if the engine is weak, you have to push the pedal harder to go some where, which makes the shift harder and longer.
