Quiz for everyone
What was the first Mercedes car model/year that has (automatic) hydraulic valve lifters?
Eric |
My guess is the 75 or 76 M117 (450SEL/SL) in the US. The same engine might have been available earlier in Europe.
I don't know if the M100 had hydraulic adjusters earlier or ever. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

Dear Sixto and M.B.DOC:
You are absolutely right. BTW, is there any reason why hydraulic lifters are not available in much later models such as W123 (1980-1985) etc....? Having to manually adjust the valve lashes periodically is not a good idea. Best regards, Eric |
I think hydraulic adjusters were available in the M102 which powered the W123 200 and 230E which were not available in the US. I don't know if the M123 had hydraulic adjusters. The M123 was not available in the US either.
