Emptying front part of master cylinder tank.
I am getting ready mto flush my brake system. I thought it would be good to suck the black brake fluid out of the master cylinder tank instead of pushing it all the way through the system. How do I empty the part of the tank nearest the front of the car. Will it flush also?

which car model
after using a turkey baster to siphon nearly all the old fluid out some dirt may remain along with some fluid on some of the older Benz the brake reservoir pulls off (and can be rinsed and thoroughly dried) - though some techs don't like to pull the reservoir off. On my `98 C class the reservoir is bolted and awkward to remove unless the you start to pull the system apart. I had some tiny debris in the reservoir of my C and I just had to bleed not finding any way to wipe it clean. |
You are right to get the old fluid out. I have used a simple hand pump to remove the fluid in the resevoir. It was about $20 at the auto parts store.

I second the turkey baster.

My turkey baster works better now that I have narrowed the tip (less dripping). I partially melted the tip and pinched it smaller with a pair of pliers.
