190 E 2.6 Overvoltage Protection Relay

I ordered a new overvoltage protection relay as many of the archives suggested to solve a over rich mixture condition as well as periodic "reduced power". I got part no 201 540 37 45 which was descibed as the substitute for 201 540 32 45. I installed same and immediately had real problem starting the car. When it started, it would not idle and THE ABS LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OUT. I reinstalled the original relay and had the same running experience.No blown fuses in either relays.I did remove the battery for each installation.
Help, now, this is serious.

It sounds as if one of the wires on the bottom of the relay has pushed out...I have seen this from time to time. Be sure that no loose wires are there. (It sounds as if you found the intermittant problem.)

I think that it is possible that I did push a connector out but I can't seem to get access to under the socket. So do I have to take out all of the relays, the CIS and the ABS controllers to do that? I also can't seem to verify how many contacts I should see from the top. Several are absent but from the relay diagram it appears that some are duplicated and some have no pins.Thaks for your attention to my panic.

Benzmac, you are the man. Indeed the first attempt to replace pushed out one pin.To get to behind the connector I had to take all of the computers and relays out and remove the box that holds them in place. A real pain. I am not so sure that the same thing would not happen again if I just removed the relay in the normal way.

PS, did I need a new relay, can't tell yet. Starts and runs fine now.
